The Autumn years of one's life bring their own problems and difficulties. I am now in the 77th year of life and these are beginning to become very much part of my daily life. Over the past couple of weeks I have been seeing a number of specialist doctors about my health. I am seeing a cardiologist about my blood pressure, which is much higher than it should be. I spent over an hour with him, had an ECG and ultra-sound of my heart to check for any damage there. Next week I will be wearing a monitor for 24 hours to check the fluctuations in my blood pressure over that time. From there we will work out new medication to control the blood pressure.
Yesterday I spent another hour with a specialist optometrist, checking on my macular degeneration. Though not serious yet, just to be sure that I get the best treatment, he has referred me on to a vitreoretinal surgeon, whom I see on 13 September.
On Friday I will be seeing a specialist dermatologist about a lump on my side. Three years ago I had a basal cell carcinoma removed from my forehead and I fear this may be another one.
Since the age of 23 I have had serious bouts of depression. It is now controlled by medication, which I will continue taking for the rest of my life.
So you see I have quite a lot to think about at present and quite a few doctors to see about my health and well being. All this means I will not be giving as much time to posting on my blogs as I have been. So please understand if I do not post every day. I am very grateful to those faithful few who leave comments almost every day and I appreciate my followers. I know that quite a lot of people visit my blogs and I deeply appreciate that also. I will continue to post but it will not be every day. So please understand.

Please take good care of yourself! Your health comes first! Take it easy and we'll look forward to the great photos you post when you can.
I know what you speak of. I take over 30 pills a day to keep my blood pressure manageable. I've had two open heart surgeries to repair my aortic aneurysms. I'm 59 y/o so for your age your doing pretty good. Take care and good luck to you!
I'll be thinking of you Patrick.
Take good care and may God bless you. Love your blog and of course those beautiful pictures.
Cheer up. It could be worse. Hang in there.
Lord Patrick,
Sorry your are experiencing health challenges.
While you see specialists, be sure to investigate whether some of your issues might be caused by prescription drug interactions. It is easy to assume others are watching out for you. Most specialists have blinders on and only address their specialties.
You are your own best advocate! Be well.
Alex
Completely understood!
I'm sendin' big vibes of well being your way.

Well, a someone who is younger than you who has been through the mill since May I can certainly empathize. Last year I underwent surgery in my left eye for a macular hole and let me tell you that surgery was no fun. Then in August of this year I went into complete VTAC (hear beat 229) and now wear a pacemaker and defibrillator. They hit me three time in one day with those paddles and didn't even bother to knock me out. So rest assured there are many of us out here who share your problems the your ordeal of getting older. Keep looking up. Best wishes and may God Bless.
