The top one's a Caravaggio, right? In any case, it has all the hallmarks of a Caravaggio. It's beautiful!

I just read your comment on M-A reg. the flagellation. If you like that as a (religious) topic in 16th/17th century painting, there's a beautiful version of that by Velazquez (who happens to be my favourite painter) and it's called, "The Flagellation of Christ and the Contemplation of the Christian Soul". It hangs in the National Gallery in London and it is absolutely stunning!!! I'm sure if you google it, it'll come up. Let me know what you think of it!
